Wednesday, 29 June

Met Ben at Covent Garden where we found a great spot in the sun and had a coffee at Andromias Café. Took a nice time lapse of the square, and also of the station, so will see how they turn out when I put them together.

Made our way across the London Bridge taking in the sights.

We continued walking along the Thames River Path to Bruel’s Museum. Spend some time reading up on both father and son’s impressive contribution to the UK’s rail, tunnels and bridge network. Most notably the first tunnel under the Thames river.

We then trained it out to London City Airport where we waited for Katy to land after her plane was delayed in France.

We scoped out the Docklands suburbs and I was taken back by the cleanliness of the city with the mix of fresh clean sky-scrapers. There was no little, few traffic and a great atmosphere of professional all dressed immaculately. Would be nice to work here some time down the path. Caught the end of Tsonga vs Federer in the Wimbledon quarter finals in which Tsonga came back from 2 sets down, There was a big screen set up in the park in the city.

We all tubed it back to Steve and Dyann where we met Jess and Ceili and her mother Di (all from NZ and family friends of the Rowes) and Dyann produced an amazing spread of baked salmon, chicken, a collection of salads and cheeses. It was capped off with a great cheese cake, ice cream and Richard and his girlfriend Gronia popping in for a quick drink. Later that night Dyann took me to the South Gate Hockey Club. It was an impressive ground with an equally appropriate two story club house and bar. On the way home we popped in to see Caroline and discussed plans for a gambling trip to Las Vegas later in the year!
