We packed our bags and thanks the hostel staff for such a great stay. Was definitely one of the nicer hostels I’ve stayed in.
We walked to the markets again where I stocked up on fresh fruit (peaches, apricots, nectarines and bananas) for brunch and through out the day.
We easily booked a bus ticket to Sibenik, a 1.5hour bus ride north along the coast. Total price was 62 kunans (around 12AUD). Can’t catch a bus to Jurien Bay for $12 can you?!
Something I ate in the morning didn’t agree with my stomach acids… as soon as we arrived I raced to find a WC… thankfully the pains only lasted a few hours. Was the first time this trip I’ve felt ill, but a berocca solves everything!
We found our accommodation – Hostel Indgo, and the manager called Ivan was exceptionally friendly. We shared a room with Pascal and Pierre, two French Canadians traveling for 2 weeks from Qubec.
In the afternoon we found the ferry which took us to the swimming beach for the town. It was a 10 minute boat ride; cost 10 kunas each. On the way over we saw a fire close by on the hill and water bombers attempting to extinguish it.
There were little shacks along the beach which we assumed people hired for the summer. Inside they had a small kitchen and bunk beds!
We swam for a while and fell asleep on the rocks; we were rather tired from the late night before. There were a couple of windsurfers, one had a 7m sail with a 150L board… if only they knew what they were missing out in Gero.
Back at the hostel we caught up with Pascal and Pierre and we all went out for dinner. Dylan and I shared pizza’s; Kike: tomato, cheese, ham, bacon and onion and a Bomba: tomato, cheese, anchovies, garlic and hot chili peppers.
Of course, as custom, we got ice-cream after dinner for desert.
We had an early night. I was very excited about sleeping in the beds at the hostel as they we very comfy with a soft pillow and air con and a fan (this reminded me of home).
