Una showed off her Croatian language, having conversations with the old ladies selling the fruit - making sure we got the best prices!
We wandered to the bike shop and hired some bikes, where we rode to the beach we swam at the day before. Dylan and I then ventured to the top of the lookout, with a huge Croatian flag proudly flying. You can see this flag from every location in Split, and we overheard that a huge Jesus statue, bigger than the one in Rio, will be built here soon!
It was hard work climbing up the steep hills on the bike, but the ride down was smooth and fast!
We swam and talked, before heading back to the hostel where we caught up with Dorris. She took us to her favourite ice-cream place, where I got white chocolate and dark chocolate chip flavour. She struggled to eat the ice cream, not sure if it was due to the heat or the fact that we kept giving her a hard time! It was a little funny! (shame I didn't have my camera!)
We came back to the hostel and book accommodation for the next night, in a town 1.30mins away, north, called Sibenik. We had a nice siesta (what?- when in rome do as the romans right?!) and then caught up with Josh, Kris, Una, Charlie and Tyler for dinner.
We ate at a nice family restaurant in the same precinct as the night before. This place was recommended by Dorris (hostel lady) and proved a winner. I ordered a mixed meat dinner – chicken, ham and cheese in a batter with homemade chips. The beer I had was by far the best of the trip, smooth, sweet and hit me well… I ended up drinking a liter of it.
After dinner we grabbed another ice-cream from the same place in the after-noon. The highlight was getting the top dipped in chocolate so give it a special twist. I think I had cookies and cream and nutella flavour. I remembered it being thick and tasty!
We met Una’s cousin Boran who took us to the local area to drink and showed us the clubs. The line was too long by the time we went to the club (around 1.30am on a Monday!) so we headed back slowly.
We walked past the blue star beach - Bacvice, where two drunk people we skinny dipping; we all had a good laugh.
Got back to the hostel at around 4am where I happily dozed quickly to sleep!
