The alarm woke me at 7am and I slowly rolled out of bed. It was soo warm in the bed, but so cold outside. I had some muesli with dried mangos, pineapples, some strawberry yoghurt and some raspberries on top. The muesli was almost as good as mums.
Outside the car was frosted over! An exciting indication of the fun times ahead for me, and the changing in the weather. We scraped it off and got on the road to Tent Rocks, north of Albuquerque about 1.2 hours on the road.
We drove through Jemez Springs, at an altitude of 6300 feet. The Cottonwoods were changing colour, it was a truly magical time to be driving through the area.
There were hot springs around but we decided to save that for another trip. We drove for 10 mins on a bumpy dirt road and came across the formations of rock that resembled tents, or phallic symbols depending on the angle you looked at.
It was very fascinating and impressive, the formations had been made through the erosion due to water flowing down the mountain.
We drove further north to try and find some natural hot springs, I was sceptical and unfortunately we couldn't find them. We went on a little walk expecting to come across it, but it later turned out when we stopped at the visitors centre we were far off.
We planned to make another trip to check out the hot springs.
We headed back and explored the town, checked out a hot spring but didn’t swim – I was after a more natural one. We explored the visitors center and saw a replica of a traditional hut the pueblo Indians used to stay warm during the winter.
On the freeway I cam across this jeep. This is how they do it in America. The meat I assume is in the eski below. Incredible. Number plates tell me their from texas which explains a lot.
Back in town we stopped off at a hobby shop so abby could by some feathers for her costume for Halloween and some face paint. I managed to find a few goodies my self!
They even had Christmas decorations on sale already!
We went to a thrift shop (an op-shop) and found some goodies for my costume... I would end up going as a nerd. The clothes were cheap and I even found a nice jumped for me to wear on a day to day basis! it cost me $7!
Back on campus I tried to have a sleep before the big night out... I was too excited!
I caught up with the gang and we headed out to a number of fun house parties and danced the night away. At 3am we thought we'd stop off at IHOP.... International House of Pancakes! But alas, it turned out to be a bad idea... my stack of pancakes was inedible and only added to my upset stomach!
I finally made it home to bed and slept for a little while before being woken up too early on.
