I woke up in time to see the younger siblings off to school. I had a bowl full of special k and some other American cereal and a banana.
Grandma and Jenny sat down to do the grocery shopping, and I added my few things for my treat. I wanted to buy it all but made sure they had core ingredients like sugar and flour ect.
Hannah eventually made it out of bed and we headed off into town to do some food shopping and then drop of Noahs and Sandra’s lunch (we bought a foot long subway).
After the chores we done we caught up with Jenny at Lars rooms and Hannah got the cold flu shot. I wasn’t sure if I’d had one so I said no, to be safe.
We headed over to the main hospital for lunch and met Carol and Gerald who came in once we were eating. The foot was really good for hospital food and I had a turkey and bacon sandwich with salad. It filled me up.
We took Jenny and headed to the main street for some quick shopping. We walked into a few stoes, one of which was the equiverlent of an op shop. They had some killer suits, unfortunately none were my size. A whole suit would set you back $15 and today it was half price – so 7.50!. Shame.
I found a nice little cardigan vest and bought it for $3. I thought it might be good to wear come Christmas day.
We went into another shop that had a great brand that I cant mention as it may spoil some birthday presents. It was nice seeing the whole range they had.
We headed back to the house and gathered our gear to head into Ouray. Ouray was a 40 min drive towards New Mexico and ironically I had visited this with my church family back in week two of the semester.
The only parts that had changed were the mountains; now covered in snow. We stopped off at this great chocolate shop and bought some nice chocolates and had a hot chocolate. It was rich and smooth. We wandered up the street and back, the main shops only spanned 200m or so. It was very cold and I had to keep my hands in my jacket otherwise they’d go white. Thankfully I had the cold weather gear, otherwise I would have been in real trouble!
We ate Buen Tempo, a Mexican restaurant that was reportedly really nice. We had tamale and shared the plate as it was only 6pm and we were still recovering form the lunch at the hospital.
The manager had a super set up where for $1 they would pin the note on the roof. There would have been close to $3k worth up there – they donate it to charity every year. It looked pretty impressive and I had to try. Using come coins stuck together, and a pin in the note you could throw it up and it’d get stuck in the wooden roof.
After dinner we headed down the road to the hot springs and bathed. There was so much steam coming off from the water, and it was so nice to be in the hot water. The temperature was 104 f.
We swam around for a few hours before we drove back home and picked up a movie for the following night. We rented Crocodile Dundee.
Back home the boys had their ski gear spread across the living room floor. It was so much fun getting the gear organized for the coming season. I set up the gopro on the helmet.
After a few after dinner snacks I headed off to bed. This time the room was pitch black. I feel asleep quickly.
