I woke up five minutes before my alarm: at 6.25am. I was all packed, very excited and I slipped in the shower to freshen up. I had my clothes set out, all ready to put on. It was like I was travelling again; off to catch the bus to catch a plane and had my times all planned out. I thought Lapo would open at 7am but when I went to open the door I realized that it was the weekend and wouldn’t open until 10am!
I went back to the room and brushed my teeth before swinging on my back pack, picking up skis and poles and headed over to Hannah. We had said we’d meet at 7.15am.
At 7.45am I asked a passer by to open to door for me… Hannah was still asleep! It was more because I was freezing cold outside, but I also wanted to get going. I knocked on the door and she opens the door to reveal a dark room…. I told her to hurry up – grandma won’t be happy!
Alexis drove us back to the hotel and we packed the van and headed off.
Gerald was driving, and it was quite a start. We ran a red light at the first traffic light after leaving the hotel.
We missed the turn off to Santa Fe and had an exciting incident trying to turn around. Eventually we made it back onto the right route and headed on.
In the far distance a mountain range appeared and it was covered in snow… it looked heavy and skiable. I was getting excited as I leaned on my skis that was sitting between the seats I the back.
Carol is a good talking… there hasn’t been a silence in conversation since we first met up. It was fun having someone talk the whole time. Gerald was keen to over take and needed Hannah to tell him to be sensible. I offered to drive with was told Gerald is a driver.
We drove in the driveway at 4pm. The gas fire was alight and the house was warm and filled with photos. The two dogs, both Labradors were bounding with energy and were allowed inside. The college football was on the tv and we had a green chili stew for dinner. It was a great way to start the week off up here and my room was large with a big bed. I later discovered that there were no windows and when the light was turned out it was pitch black! Hannah is quite the quilt maker… and it just so happened that the quilt on my bed was the pattern I was after for my birthday present. I took a photo to send home to mum.
We all headed off to bed around 10pm after watching some close college games. I fell asleep straight away.
