Friday, 29 July

It was a late start as the rain kept us tucked warm in the bunk beds.

We popped next door to the supermarket and grabs some salami, tomatoes, cucumber and bread to make sandwiches for bunch. After, we headed to the look out at the top of the hill. A tower had been made which gave a great view of the lake, with visibility limited to the strength of the eye.

James and I ran up, but just over half way up our energetic spirits we in deflated as the hill became steep and too much to run up.

We walked the rest, but both were sweating by the time we reached the top.

We prayed for sunshine and warmth, but could see on the horizon that only dark clouds were coming our way. We headed back just as the heavens opened up. The rain only became heavier and we again decided to go for the all-you-can-eat dinner at the hostel.

It was a thicker soup, brewed over an open fire in a large 100l pot. Combined with the beer we filled ourselves up. We played presidents with 3 Dutch lads. I hadn’t played card in years, so it was nice to have a game.

I had an early night and planned to rise early to watch the sunrise over the whole lake around 6am the next morning. It didn’t take long for me to fall asleep.

  1. Hello Richard:
My son and I were in Ljubljana, Slovenia and Croatia last year. Your picture of the ice cream brought back memories.
We hope to have rain here in ABQ but mostly there will be lots of sun! We look forward to showing you our city and state.
